Our July Squad Selections are open to athletes aged 7+ years and Yellow Belt and above who wish to be considered for future Shito Ryu Karate Wales training squads and competition programmes. The session is designed to assess technical ability, attitude, effort, coachability, attendance, and competition potential. Athletes may be selected into a range of pathways including Regional, National Development, Para Karate, and Elite A Squad programmes.

What to Bring

All athletes attending should arrive with:

* Clean white karate gi

* Appropriate belt

* Water bottle

* Training notebook (recommended)

* Full WKF-approved kumite equipment if participating in kumite assessments:

* Red and blue gloves

* Shin pads and foot protectors

* Gum shield

Expectations

Athletes should:

* Arrive early and ready to train

* Demonstrate good etiquette and discipline

* Be prepared to perform kata at maximum effort

* Take feedback positively

* Support fellow athletes throughout the session

Selection is based on more than just performance on the day. Training attendance, attitude, commitment, and long-term development potential are all considered as part of the process.

Important: Athletes who do not attend selections may not be considered for upcoming events unless prior arrangements have been made with the coaching team.
